Named after a childin our own family.

Sahasra Vastra is a small family business in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. We bring together everyday and occasion clothing for children from newborn to eight years, gathered from makers and suppliers across India and beyond.

The brand carries the name of a child in our own family. That is why we are careful, and that one question is the whole of it.

Where our clothes come from

We don't run a factory.

We spend our time finding good children's clothing wherever it is made. Our pieces come from four places.

Our own small production runs
For some designs we choose the fabric and the pattern ourselves, and work with trusted stitching units to cut and sew them for us.
Makers across India
From the knitwear units of Tiruppur to smaller workshops, we work with people whose fabric and stitching we have seen for ourselves.
Export surplus
Extra pieces from production runs made for overseas buyers, available only in small quantities. We check each one ourselves before it is listed.
Selected imports
We bring in a few pieces from outside India when they offer something we can't find here.

Many of our pieces come in small lots, so a design may be available in only a few sizes. Once it is gone, it may not come back.

We test how the neck and the fastenings open.

Loose buttons, beads or pom-poms on baby wear
Rough, scratchy or strong-smelling fabric
Anything we wouldn't put on our own child

A small business, run by hand

Our family runs everything here: finding the pieces, checking each one, and packing every parcel. When you message us, you are talking to the people who packed your order.
